About Hand Scraped & Lacquered Finished Planks
Hand scraped floors boast a rustic design. The wood has been scraped by hand, revealing the harsher grains underneath. This creates a very natural look. The lacquered surface meanwhile, adds a glossy and smooth finish. This creates a more luxurious effect and fits in well with modern home interiors.
You should find these floors really easy to maintain. The lacquered surface offers excellent wear and tear protection. It also naturally repels dust and dirt. You’ll simply need to give it a daily vacuum or sweep to keep it clean. For built up residue, you can also give it a weekly dry or damp mop.
The only issue you might face with this style of flooring is re-sanding. If the floor becomes damaged, it is harder to repair it due to the hand scraped finish. Sanding it down will remove the hand scraped effect. So, you would need to sand down the entire floor and lose the rustic effect. Instead, it is easier and cheaper to replace the damaged planks.
For added warmth and comfort, you can install these floors with underfloor heating. Just be careful to ensure your system is suitable.
Wondering how easy it is to install engineered wood flooring? Thanks to tongue and groove installation, it couldn’t be easier. The planks simply slot into place with minimal effort. You can create a floating floor installation, offering a quick, no-mess method.
Another option is to secure the planks down. You can do this with the glue-down or nail-down methods. They will take more time than a floating floor installation. However, securing the planks down increases their longevity. You can always call in the experts to install the floor for you.
